A few nice debit visa card images I found:
Norma at McDonald’s on El Camino

[She didn't want her photo taken]
Has "more than one" credit card, no debit card.
Worried about security? Had wallet taken at Mervyn’s a few years ago, person walked across the parking lot and charged 0 at Sear’s before she even left the store. "But that had nothing to do with technology." Also carries cash, no security concerns … if wallet taken, "I’d be more worried about my credit cards."
Rarely uses cash. "I used cash today [at McDonald's -- coffee and San Jose Mercury News], because the purchase was less than . Most of the time if it’s less than , I decide I don’t need it or I combine it with another purchase and put it on a card. I spend little cash."
Buys online with credit card, uses both traveler’s checks and cards while traveling.
Has AmEx, CostCo, CitiBank Visa ("we just depend on it") Sears MasterCard ("rarely use"), Target card ("rarely use"), Macy’s card ("haven’t used it in a long time"), Kohl’s card ("rarely use.") Has a Mervyn’s card somewhere but doesn’t use it because Mervyn’s went out of business. (Which is unfortunate — she liked Mervyn’s stores because they had so much good value: "you could buy very inexpensive, very reasonably priced items there. If I wanted a pair of black pants, I could get them there for where they would be 0 elsewhere.")
Used her Visa at Target last to earn miles. Why don’t you use some of the cards you have? "Haven’t thought about it consciously, not sure where all of them are."
Last time you went shopping? Went to Sear’s yesterday evening, wanted to return some of the items she had bought online. Ended up buying a red shirt with the Citibank Visa. "We only go shopping when we need something, and it’s amazing how little we actually need."
Reads Consumer Reports (knew about a recent article that ranked LL Bean over Land’s End — but she still prefers Land’s End, calling it a good place to get things for her husband who hates to shop. Consistent sizes, and they can go to Sear’s to make returns.

I really like the interior of this place, but the hipster atmosphere can be irritating.
About twenty minutes after I took this, the server informed us that we couldn’t pay with a debit card even if it had the Visa logo prominently displayed on the front, because "it costs us more". Unless they have the weirdest credit card processing plan ever, that’s bullshit. You run it as a credit card, the bank processing the fees is going to see it as indistinguishable from a regular credit card. I think it’s more likely that the owner decided that the ATM in the corner was far more profitable and that the customers should suck it up and pay the fees themselves. Which does not really make me want to go back anytime soon.
